From the 2nd January 2019 a joint pilot for Fire Investigation under the Streamlined Forensic Reporting (SFR) process will be carried out across the East Midlands by Police forces in conjunction with the regional Fire and Rescue Service Fire Investigators and Cellmark Forensic Services.

(SFR) first introduced in 2012 provides national consistency. It Aims to avoid the cost and delays, when full scientific evidence is produced, then not disputed in Court.

This process aims to replace the present Initial and Full fire investigation reports currently completed.

The SFR process ensures only contested forensic evidence is fully prepared for trial. It is a simple process whereby the participants identify and agree which issues are contested.
